GYPSUM BOARD

PART 2
PRODUCTS

The following listed types of products are recommended for use in gypsum board applications.

The terminology used in these product standards is consistent with that used within Part 3 – Application and Part 4 – Guide Specification of this Section.

CSA, CAN/CGSB and ASTM standards specified in this section shall be the latest edition of such standards.

GYPSUM BOARD
Gypsum board shall conform to CAN/CSA A82.27 or ASTM C36/C36M, and as follows:

1.1 Standard Gypsum Board
.1 Description

Noncombustible gypsum core, surfaced on face side with ivory coloured paper and on back side with grey paper. Face paper wraps around longitudinal tapered edges. Ends are buffed.

Product Data

Edge type: tapered

Thickness: 6.4mm (1/4”); 9.5mm (3/8”); 12.7mm (1/2”); 15.9mm (5/8”)

Width: 1200mm (48”) in sheets of maximum practical lengths to minimize end joints

Lengths: 2400mm (8’) 3000mm (10’) 3600mm (12’)

Fastening

Fastenings for standard gypsum board to be as specified under Items 2.1 and 2.2.

Accessories

Accessories for standard gypsum board to be as specified under Item 3.

1.2 Fire Resistant Gypsum Board – Type ‘X’ and Type ‘C’
.1 Description

Same as standard gypsum board with Type ‘X’ or ‘C’ cores specially formulated for increased fire resistance. (See Note 3)

.2 Product Data

Edge type: tapered

Thickness: 12.7mm (1/2”); 15.9mm (5/8”)

Width: 1200mm (48”) wide in sheets of maximum practical lengths to minimize end joints

Lengths: 2400mm (8’), 3000mm (10’), 3600mm (12’)

U.L.C. or W.H. labeled for Fire-Endurance Rating when used in a tested assembly in accordance with CAN/ULC – S102

Fire hazard classification – Flame Spread 25, Fuel Contributed 15, Smoke Developed 0

.3 Fastenings

Fastenings for fire resistant gypsum board shall be as specified under Items 2.1 and 2.2. (see Note 5)

.4 Accessories

Accessories for fire resistant gypsum board shall be as described under Item 3.
